“The first time I heard Kelsey sing, I was totally mesmerized,” said Ramsey-Perkins. “For such a young and beautiful girl, there is so much soul, a little pain and a lot of living felt in everything she writes. Very rarely do you come across a unique talent like her. I’m thrilled that she’s a part of the Little Extra Music family, and I can’t wait to share her music with all of you!”
The Florida panhandle native wrote her first song at age 16 – a marriage between her first heartbreak and an old guitar collecting dust in the corner of her room. From that point forward, she delved into a wide spectrum of musical genres including pop and blues, until her folk roots led her into the graces of Americana music.
Kelsey has carried her deep affection for singing and writing by her side, implementing both talents as outlets for her life experiences. She has played nearly 150 shows a year along the Gulf Coast, all the while learning to balance performing her own original songs with those of lyrical trailblazers like Patty Griffin and Emmylou Harris.
In 2011, Kelsey was named Northwest Florida’s Regional X-Factor winner. A year later, she won Best Original Song for her hit “Poison” and also took home Best Female Vocalist at the Beachcomber Music Awards.
Following a successful Kickstarter campaign and a move to Nashville, Kelsey began working on her first album. Her fresh start in a city that houses some of the most talented songwriters holds Kelsey in a state of awe and inspiration. “Ultimately, I traveled to Nashville to create my own music,” said Kelsey, “but little did I know that I could also absorb the creative vibes of this amazing town.”
“I am beyond excited to join this amazingly talented family of writers,” she added of her relationship with Little Extra Music. “This journey just keeps getting better!”
